Its fracture isdark gray and has a blue and yellow flash color, so it is hard and brittle.Due to the high affinitybetween manganese and oxygen, oxides such as MnO can be formed, so ferromanganese is used asdeoxidizer in steelmaking. In refining alloy steel, manganese iron is the alloy additive of fiercesteel.It is widely used in refining high manganese steel and foundry.
